Band Camps FAQ’s

What are the times of your camps?

Our camps will from Monday Friday from 10 am-3 pm.

What is the cost of the camp?

The camp will cost 200 euro for the week.

I live in Tallaght. Do you have a music camp near me?

Yes. We have music camps in Terenure and Nutgrove. Both of those are within easy reach of Tallaght, and both served by bus routes from the Square

I have been studying a instrument but I’m worried about my musical ability compared to other campers?
We group campers of similar age and ability, making our camp a fun and exciting experience for all! Your enthusiasm will go a long way!
Do I need to bring my musical instrument with me?

No, as we will provide everything, but we encourage guitarists and bass players to bring their own guitars as you will feel more comfortable playing your own instrument. If you have a piece of kit you really want to use – like a cymbal or pedal, or an amplifier – by all means bring it with you.

A friend and I want to set up a band together. Would this music camp be suitable for us?

Make Music’ Band Camp would be ideal for you. It sounds like you might already have started rehearsing together, but are short of a couple of band mates? This is where we come in. We’ll put you together with other musicians and provide you with a structured environment where you can rehearse and compose together.

I have never played a musical instrument before. is this camp for me?

If you have never played instrument before, the camp may not be for you this time around, but don’t worry, our partners at DSM and DSD can get you started on your desired instrument so you will be all set for our next camps. But you don’t have to play an instrument – if you can sing, we’d love to hear from you.

Who are your instructors?

Our instructors are some of Dublin’s top gigging musicians and music teachers. All instructors are Garda vetted and will be supervising for 100% of the camp duration.

The Make Music camp sounds brilliant, but I will be away during the summer and can’t attend a camp. What can I do?

That’s a great question – and enjoy your summer holidays! We’ll have camps running during all the school holidays – so the next one will be at Hallowe’en, and again during the Easter holidays. So don’t worry, there’s never too long to have to wait for the next chance to join a band. But if you really can’t wait that long, why not come along to one of our weekly jam sessions? That way you’ll get to meet other musicians, and straight away get playing in a band.

Jamming Sessions FAQ’s

How long will the jam and practice sessions be?

Our sessions will run once a week for an hour.

What is the price of jams and practices?

The charge for a single “drop in” session is €25. We know, though, that you’ll want to play regularly with your new band, so we’ve a special rate of €195 for a full course of 10 weekly sessions. At the end of each 10 sessions, you’ll be able to play all the songs you’ve been working on live for your friends, families and the other bands.

Will I be good enough on my instrument to participate?

Absolutely. We will match musicians together of similar age and ability. And, don’t forget, one of the Make Music tutors will be on hand at all times to help you.

Who are your instructors?

Our instructors are some of Dublin’s top gigging musicians and music teachers. All our instructors are Garda vetted and our rehearsals are supervised 100% of the time.

live on the North side of the city, but I see you’re based in Terenure and Nutgrove. Can I still attend?

You are absolutely welcome to attend. We’d love to have your input into the rehearsal sessions. We’ve conveniently scheduled the jam sessions to take place at weekends, so traffic should be less of an issue for you.

Will musical instruments be provided?

Yes, but we encourage guitarists and bass players to bring their own guitars as you will feel more comfortable playing your own instrument. If you have a piece of kit you really want to use – like a cymbal or pedal, or an amplifier – by all means bring it with you.

Who will attend the end of term gig?

We encourage family and friends to attend, but we will also be live-streaming the gig for anyone – home and abroad – who can’t make it on the day.
